Every year permits for illegal projects are jammed through agencies around the holidays…
COMMENTS ARE DUE JANUARY 4TH.
A permit application was allegedly posted for public comment on Dec 5th 2005 by the US Army Corps of Engineers. People on the US Army Corps of Engineers notification list, did not receive this notification.
The permit proposes: “To construct a 60 s lips marina to moor recreational craft, water taxi and seaplane/flight ship activities.
The location is both IN and ADJACENT too mangroves protected by Federal Refuge. Construction will impact sea grass listed as Resource Cat 1 Critical Habitat for Green Sea Turtles. Refuge manager says developers know they will need a special permit from USFWS, but encourages comments to the Corps of Engineers. This is proposed by a development project which allegedly has all permits and is located next to the Costa Bonita Resort, now in another bankruptcy. There were no public hearings held for the project. It is illegal to permit such a project without Planning Board public hearings!
TAKE ACTION TODAY
1) CALL AND SEND EMAIL REQUESTING 1) PUBLIC HEARING FROM THE US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS, SINCE LOCAL PLANNING BOARD AND ADDEC NEGLECTED TO DO SO, AND,
2) REQUEST AN EXTENTION FOR COMMENTS DUE TO NOTIFICATION PROBLEMS.
2) FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO BLOGS AND OTHERS YOU KNOW WILL TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT CULEBRA!.
